1LW...It's been a while

Positive attracts positive.

Wednesdays have so much to offer. Mid week relief, knowing the weekend is just a few days away and 1 Little Word posts.

Sadly in the past few weeks my blogging has taken a back seat to the many other busy areas of my life. I steal time with Hubs when he isn't working and studying. So little time gets to be spent with the bestie {we talk all the time though}, business is booming! My house is relatively clean, and I get to work out almost everyday!

Being Positive is one of the hardest things we do. As sinners, we are naturally drawn towards     emotions that are on the other end of spectrum. Anger, Sadness, disdane and so many others.  So being Positive really is a challenge for us.

During my lunch hour work out I try hard to read a book, listen to music, NOT talk to people. I find that that time is my {me time}. It's what I need to stay balanced. A little time to not think about the bad stuff, the crime, the wildfires, the illness, the sin that surrounds us.

Do you have a me time? What do you like to spend that time doing?

1LW: I knew it was coming...

For the last two weeks I struggled with writing my Wednesday post because things were so awesome. No one wants to read about how your life is perfect and everything is peachy. I wrote and I posted and true to form 28 readers out of my 150 plus read the post. Not one of them commented on it. This wasn't a surprise to me at all.

I knew that eventually the other show would drop, or come crashing down. I was waiting because I know that when things are good, Satan tries to work his way into our lives and make us doubt.

Then this weekend happened. It was just so much.It started with the mail; first came the letter from the tax office saying they think our house is worth more and therefore the taxes should be raised.

Then came the letter from the bank, the one that states we didn't put enough money in our tax account when we bought the house. So we need to put it in now. Oh and since there wasn't enough then we need to raise the monthly payment as well.

So we sat down and revamped the budget. Thought about ways we could improve and really we do pretty good. Some changes were discussed and made. Now I am a worry wart when it comes to money. Hubs is the more grounded one and has to remind me that things are going to be okay.

So last night as we sat together on the floor in the hallway and folded the basket of clean towels. He he reassured me, he told me that these things are suppose to make us stronger as a couple. Being exhausted from work and mental beat from thinking about money, I looked at him and said, "holding towels together makes us stronger?" He looked at me and smiled and told me that those hard conversations to have are that way because they are important and everything we figured out was great and we are fine.

The sad thing is I know myself way better than he does, after all I've been me for almost 30 years, he's been around for almost 9. I think I have the upper hand on this one. I will worry and I will stress out until months have passed by and I see for myself that everything is okay.

Prayer is the only thing I don't think we did enough of this weekend. I was so distraught pouring over closing documents and statements that I mentally never went there. It should have been the first place I went and the last place I went. I'm gonna do better. I'm gonna pray about it every time I see myself starting to doubt or not be able to stay positive.

Psalm 62:6-8

He only is my rock and my salvation;

He is my defense;
I shall not be moved.
In God is my salvation and my glory;

The rock of my strength,
And my refuge, is in God.
Trust in Him at all times, you people;

Pour out your heart before Him;
God is a refuge for us.

1LW: Postive

It's be an amazing week...I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop.

via

Most of you would read that and wonder why I wouldn't just be happy that things are going good. I am happy that things are going good, and I know that having that good outlook is what keeps them level. The other thing I know is that when things are good, when we get comfortable with that Satan takes hits at our well being. I know that there are challenges on the horizon, I know that there will be things to trip me up in the future.

Business is good great.
Family is amazing.
Husband, well I couldn't ask for better.
Work is full of opportunity.
Walk is thriving, I'm growing daily.

So when the other shoe falls, I'm going to come back and read this post. I'm going to remember that God is in control and He will guide and protect me. Know that Satan attacks when we are doing good, walking in the Light and know that I can come through anything....Because

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. (Psalm 46:1)

and He says...

Come to Me, all you who are weary and weighed down with heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me; for I am gentle and humble in spirit. Indeed, you will surely find rest in Me! My yoke is easy, and My burden is light. (Matthew 11:28-30)

With all of that on my side I can't help but enjoy the good and keep being positive. Continue to smile, say nice things, not gossip and not judge, anyone.

1LW #12

You may or may not have noticed that for the past few weeks 1 Little Word Wednesday hasn't taken place. I'd like to say that it's because I have so many important things to write about it was the day that had to change, but that wouldn't be true. I've filled the last two Wednesdays with easy posts, not that they aren't fun, but easy too. Mainly because I have been struggling with my 1LW and no one wants to sit down and write a post about something they are struggling with, failing at or have given up on. So I've been HIDING behind craft tutorials and random posts.

Several days last week I realized something else that had been missing from my routine, devotional time. I had stayed up wait working on orders, reading mindless entertainment or just piddling. What suffered was the 15 minutes I spend first thing in the morning reading my Bible and praying. I had to fix this! This is important! Not just to me, but to everyone that I come in contact with. When I'm not in the Word, not on my knees, I can't be the Positive person I desire so badly to be. So I made a change. Devotional time was not up for compromise, no matter the circumstances. It's helped, and the other day I wrote it down...I posted it to a group on Facebook. I knew that they would ask me how I was doing, they are great friends and would keep me accountable.

"Today I am going to be nice to everyone, only speak positively, not loose my cool, not gossip and smile a lot! That's the plan."

They did exactly what I thought they would do, at the end of the day was a message asking how it had gone. I was excited that it worked. I reminded myself several times throughout the day about my challenge to myself. At the end of the day, I felt that I had been successful, so the next morning I did it again. I re-read my post and told myself I was going to do it again. Last night as I lay in bed and think about the great, productive, happy day I had just finished I realized it had worked again!

So here I am this morning, sitting at my desk at work and telling myself that I am gonna get this done again today, I prayed about it this morning during my devotional time. I have the Christian radio station back on in my office, after a short hiatus to quiet land. I think hearing uplifting words all day helps, even if they are quietly in the background. It's been a wonderful week, God has shown me that I feel better and act better when I start my day with Him and my focus is on the good. Nobody wants to be around Debbie Downer all the time.

1LW #11

It was rough, that's what I have to say about this week. Seems like just when I think I have a grasp on it, my grip starts to slip until its out of my reach completely.

I have had a great week with Hubs, but got frustrated one morning and left the house without saying anything. I made it to my car, sat there a moment and then went back in to say sorry and kiss him bye. I felt better when I left for real {I scared him when I came back in and seeing him jump was so worth it}.

I struggled at work, we had severe weather one night and several of our clinics lost power. The next day I answered the phones for 3 clinics instead of 1. I was exhausted at the end of the day, and had 1 mom yell at me and hang up on me twice!

I struggled in my walk. I had a hard remembering that God is in control and that the desires of my heart may not be what He desires for me. If my heart is in the right place {on HIM} then my desires will be for His will, and that He will grant.

I struggled with food. I haven't been reading the Made to Crave book like I wanted to. I have managed to keep off the weight I lost in the challenge at work, but am having issues with wanting to eat poorly. I'm pretty sure this is directly related to the struggle with my walk.

So I am going to keep praying, keep trying to seek Him, know that my husband loves me no matter what, and that at the end of 8 hours {no matter how exhausting} I am going home and leaving work behind.

1LW #10

I can't believe that this is week 10 of 1LW.I have really enjoyed linking up at It's a Long Story each week and reading all of the other posts. I can't tell you how inspirational it is for me to see what your little word was and see that you have had many of the same successes and struggles that I have had in this journey.

I have continued to try and be Positive...

...Positive Thoughts
...Positive Actions
...Positive Intentions
...Positive Prayers
...Positive Conversations
...Positive Relationships

It is bigger than I ever imagined it would be. Trying to keep your entire life in check is work! Who would have thought?

 Really that's all I an do, Think Positive Today. It is a single day at a time challenge. I can't worry about the rest of the weekend. I'm struggling with the next 5 minutes...no gossip...no complaining...don't think bad about that person on the phone. One minute at a time, constantly reminding myself.

This week I didn't focus, I didn't give it the time and focus that it needed. I don't think I was terrible, but I didn't strive to be great either. This week will be different, this week will be awesome. I need your help, pray for me, pray for happy and kind thoughts. Thank you.

This week was great, wonderful dinner with friends from church. Time with hubs, time by myself crafting, writing and shopping. Church service that I needed, and worship that warmed my heart.

Then there was today...Tuesday. Monday was smooth, nice day at work, great trip to the gym, home to see Hubs, but Tuesday, oh Tuesday you were a stinker.

I was chapped this morning when I arranged to go into work an hour and a half late so the plumber could make a few repairs. So when that magic window closed and the plumber was yet to be seen, I called the office. They wrote my number down wrong and didn't know how to get in the gate to the neighborhood. Really? Really?

I was frustrated and told them I had to reschedule and go to work.

I wanted to call and complain to the supervisor.... but I didn't.
I figured maybe he was having a bad morning, maybe he was flustered when I called the schedule the appt and thats why he took my number down wrong. Anyways, I held back and by the afterboon was feeling less emotional about it.

Yesterday I posted 10 of my favorite scriptures. When I was gathering those I couldn't help but re-reading them and thinking about how personal and powerful each of them was. How could I not be positive. I'm gonna try harder this week. Try not to loose my cool.

I usually have so much to say. I think this week has been busy and I have had a hard time wrapping my brain around all of it. I have missed some of the quality time that Hubs and I usually have. He is been busy with school and work, and we had last minute company late in the week.

Hubs is amazing, I can't say enough sweet things about him. Then there are the days he makes me want to pull my hair out, but this week was full of the other days. The sweet days.

After our company left on Friday morning, Hubs asked me to dinner later that night. It's nice to be asked, rather than told. I got to pick the place and I chose a tasty Argentinian restaurant that has my favorite desert. Not only was the food amazing, the company couldn't have been better. We had an entire meal with meaningful conversation. Some about day to day life, some more personal and serious. This really made the rest of my weekend just amazing.
I've been getting sweet text messages and lots of time the past few days even though Hubs is at work. I think he just knows when I need time.

So something I have really been working on, interrupting. I do it to everyone, and if you are my in real life friend I apologize. I really am trying to improve this area. Hubs told me today that he has noticed that I have been doing better with it and he appreciates it. Wow! Way to make me feel good. Don't think you could have rained on my parade after that.

Struggling to be positive...In laws. My father in law is coming to visit over Spring Break and while I love this man very much. I always have some angst when I know a visit it coming. Please pray for me in the coming weeks while I struggle with this. I WANT to be Positive in every aspect.

So I tried to find a verse that I could focus on this week and believe it or not my index doesn't have the word positive in it. So I'm going with joyful. I think that they are interchangeable in the circumstances. I want to be Joyful!

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer - Romans 12:12

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,   gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law - Galatians 5:22

I keep telling myself this because it is important. Life is good, I am blessed. I see this line all over the place, we live in Austin Texas which is a fairly "Hippie Dippy" town as my chiropractor calls it. Lots of outdoorsy types and "adventure" stores. You see this brand in all of them: hats, shirts, water bottles, stickers, you name it. They display cute stick figures "adventuring" with catchy phrases.

As I sit tonight writing this post, I think about all of the different "life is good" shirts I've seen. I agree, life is good, but not because I am riding my bike, kayaking,sitting next to a camp fire. Life is good because... I am a child of God!

I am a Child of God! However I am not perfect...This is a little bit harder for my to wrap my brain around. This week was a challenge. The weekend, while really fun, I didn't get even half of the things on my to do list accomplished. Major downer moment, not POSITIVE thinking. Monday was, well a MONDAY. I had bad news at work, that frustrated me to no end. The had 2 parents get very frustrated me over the phone, 1 of them yelled, the other yelled and cursed. Not easy to stay positive through. I can home from work, hubs asked how my day was and I had to admit, it wasn't good. He was great, supportive and encouraging.

I decided that I went about the entire day wrong. Not an easy thing to admit to yourself. I realized that I had to make a change in me in order to see a change in others {duh!}.

Today I was determined to do better, be Positive no matter what. This morning I ask God to help me do a few things: Only speak kindness, no gossip, don't get frustrated, don't talk about ANYTHING negative. I knew that one pray wasn't going to be all I needed. I ended up praying for these things several times through out the day. Once I had to stop my self mid-sentence when I realized what i was about to say, and a few times I caught myself before I spoke at all. Amazing is the power of prayer.

It was a wonderful day, all happy patients at work, happy employees, happy me and happy hubs. I think that the entire point of this awesome weekly link up is to help keep us accountable. It easy to write a post at the beginning of the new year and talk big. Then you can fade away as the weeks pass on and most likely no one will ever post you a comment ask how you are doing with that 1 Little Word you talked about back in January. I feel that God has put an amazing group of women in my life at just this time for a special purpose. I started blogging when I met them and can't truly tell you how therapeutic an experience it has been for me. I'm going to continue to pray my prayer each morning and through out the day, I have a few other things I through in there too that I am working on giving over to God.  I just have to rememeber...
