Sweet Words to My Ears

My husband has a friend, a coworker that he has gotten to know over the years we've been here in Austin. He is a nice man with a lovely wife. We have had dinner with them a few times and Hubs has spent some time with his coworker socially.

For some background, My husband has grown amazingly in his personal walk with Christ in the past years. He amazes me daily with his love, dedication and steadfastness to focus on Christ. He is open with his faith at work and in his daily life. He enjoys conversations where he can share a sermon topic or a scripture with his friends. Recently the men he works with have asked questions, some have started to read their Bibles more regularly. There is one that stands out...

Back to that special couple, My Husband recently received the follow text message:

It's a new day and I am a new man in a different place than when you last saw me brother. I thanked God for placing you in my life when I prayed last night and this morning he told me to honor him by letting you know this. He wants you to know that you lead by example in the way you live your life and that your example has been noticed and is a blessing to me. I want you to know this and to know that I am now "all in" thanks to people like you. Keep doing what you are doing because it works. God bless you and Lani.

Wow! As you can imagine Hubs and I were not expecting this! I cried, I was so happy for this man. A phone conversation soon followed this text and Hubs came to find out that recently the wife of this sweet man had also declared her faith in Christ and chosen to live for Him. She was overseas undergoing IVF and leaned of Christ in her time of weakness. Sadly it was not successful and no baby was to come of the treatment. Yet she did not turn away, she continued to read her Bible and reach for Christ.

I am happy to say that months later, both this husband and wife are now living for Christ and soon will have a beautiful child coming that they will be able to share this love with.

So the lesson of this story is that your everyday actions matter, your language, your attitude, the love you show a stranger, everything! you never know what impressionable person is watching and listening. Don't you want to influence them in a positive way?

Haha. I love this.

Valentines Day DIYs and A Giveaway!

The crafter in me loves holidays. I want to make a million projects I found on Pinterest, but the hard part is what to do for Hubs.

Through out the year I like to do random projects/crafts for him too, so I thought I would share some from past and present.

I loved this simple and fun idea! I found it on pinterest and decided it was a must do. Hubs isn't big on sweets, so I new he would enjoy the notes just as much without the candies. You can find the notes in a printable {here} thanks to the Dating Divas. Hubs love it and said it felt like a week of Valentines even though I gave it to him in October just for fun.

Here is another version done by Elizabeth over at The Young Retiree. She did hers as a Pre-deployment treat for her husband.

In years past I did fun scrapbooks with pictures of us from the past year on all of our adventures. Since getting married, moving to a new city and returning to school adventures haven't been as frequent. I had to come up with something else.

This year I decided on this adorable "52 Reasons I love you" deck of cards book from Papervine, You can find the origonal tutorial {HERE}.

I gathered up all of the supplies I would need:
2 Binding Rings
Some bling for decorating
Deck of cards
Stickers with 52 Reasons types on them

#1 Use a clamp clip to hold a few of the cards together to punch holes using a Cropadile.
(If you don't have this crafting tool, you need one!)

#2 Place a sticker on each of the cards and bind with rings. Bling it out as much as you want to and make a cute cover.

Now that I got Hubs covered I needed to get some crafty stuff for the house!

I saw this adorable banner and had to have one!

Supplies Needed:
Paper Dollies
Stickers
Twine
Scissors
Glue Stick

#1 Hold dollies in half and glue with twine on the inside.

#2 Place stickers on each Dollie and hang!

LOVE IT!!

Now I have the adorable Dollie Banner and now I need some type of wreath.
I choose a cute Conversation Heart Wreath!
The original Pinterest idea is HERE

#1 I chose a inexpensive wreath and wrapped it with floral ribbon. I used 2 straight pins, 1 at the beginning and 1 at the end to keep the ribbon in place.

#2 I used Tacky glue and started a row of hearts, looking back I think I would use hot glue, for quicker dry time. For each row I alternated the direction the hearts faced for a tighter fit together.

#3 Once dry I tied a pink ribbon from a ribbon box and used a small metal D-Ring to use as a hanger. So cute and super easy.

**To preserve coat with a spray acrylic and allow to dry before adding ribbon**

TIME FOR A GIVEAWAY!

I have made a Valentine's Day Dollie Banner for 1 of my readers.

Craft Time Tuesday

This project was a gift for my brother and his fiance. Since we knew my brother's plan to propose this past weekend, mom and I went about snapping pics of our "family get together." Mom already had a idea and I was her assistant.

Several Summers ago we attended a Scrapbooking Convention in Dallas. We filled the days with classes and shopping! We had a wonderful mother daughter weekend together. We took home so many completed books that neither of us has yet to fill them. Mom's idea was to take apart a small book that she loved, but just hadn't found the perfect use for yet and put the pieces into a small blank craft paper and card stock album she had on hand.

So, with the small book dismantled and reassembled in a sturdy book to last the years we went to work adding all of the fun pictures that we had been snapping. There are enveloped in the book to hold memorabilia like our fortunes from dinner out on my brothers 21st birthday, the receipts for dinner the night he proposed and for the 3 dozen candle he had mom and I light for him! We gave it to them the next morning and they loved it! Easy and fun.

5 things i'm loving right now

I was reading a great post over at Fancy Little Things my friend Aimee's page and thought why not. She got the idea from her new buddy over at Chesterrific I'm trying hard to do better at this blogging thing this year, so if nothing else I can take direction from others.  So here goes, 5 things i'm loving right now....

#1: Starbuck's Peppermint Coco- I know its only a matter of time before I have to say goodbye until next year when the red cups come back.

#2: Pinterest- Of Course! You are always in my browser, all day, every day. Helping me think of crafts, what to cook for dinner, the outfit I must have, and jokes to tell my hubby.

#3: Scentsy- I know it's been around forever, but I just bought my first one the other day and am loving the Silverbells scent. It's amazing and my entire house smells amazing!

#4: Sally Hansen Insta-dri Polish- It's the best polish I have ever used, I feel like I have to buy a new color everytime I walk in Target, someone save me! That flat brush means one swipe and that Insta-dry means I'm back to work in 3 minutes max. Love!

#5: My Tom's- I wear them pretty much everyday, don't know what I'd do without them. Might need more in lots of other colors:)
