Monday Mashup - Structure and Photo A Day Week 1 Review

Structure! I think I have found structure, for the blog anyways:) I have spent the past week reading different link up parties and trying to decide what kind of structure to give to the blog myself. There are so  many fun link up parties out there on the blogs that I love that it seems that it would be a shame not to participate.

Monday: Monday Mash up - this is a post just to post, it'll be anything and everything. Right now it will feature the week in review from the Instagram Photo A Day Challenge.

Tuesday: Time for Crafting Tuesday - Have to have a place to write about all of the Pinterest ideas  I have to make.

Wednesday: One Little Word Wednesday - Link up with It's A Long Story

Thursday: Thankful Thursday - Link up with The Fontenot Four

Friday: Foodie Friday - Try and keep up with the goal of cooking once a week:)

Of course I'll throw a few random weekend posts in along the way.

Weekend in Review

Hoping everyone has had a wonderful weekend! We spent some time with family back home in West Texas. It was a full house, every bedroom and couch was full. My youngest brother and his girlfriend came to visi,. baby bro is stationed in Colorado Springs and his sweet girlfriend goes to Kanasas State. This was the first time I've seen them since October 2010, when bro graduated from basic training. Sadly our other brother and his fmaily weren't able to come:( They are stationed in Virginia and while I am super excited that I am getting a NEW niece or nephew this summer, I hate that my sweet sis-in-law is miserable with morning sickness that lasts the entire day.

Oh did I mention that it was bro's 21st Birthday!?! So lots of awesome family time happening here! We played board games galore...

Hubs and my dad spent the evening chilling in the recliners, playing on the computer and watching the news. Dad did help some when we hti a road bump in Scrabble.

Bro picked King and I for celebration dinner, best Thai food in town and a family fav.

Exciting news to end the weekend on...
The Future Mr. & Mrs. Jack Gillett!!
Congratulations to my baby bro & my soon to be awesome sis-in-law!

Looking forward to participating in this awesome upcoming journal swap. Interested too, head over to Aleks Handmade and sign up!

One Little Word

I am really excited about all of the blogging I have done in 1 week. I can't believe that I have spent the time to have a post every day this week. I would love to have a pattern, i.e. What I Wore Wednesdays and so on, but for now I will go with the flow.  This week I am linking up with It's a Long Story and participating in their One Little Word posts.
Now I read this post several times as I tried to think about one little word, the more I thought about it I realized that the words weren't little at all. Maybe they are only a few letters long, but meaning, not just definition but what I interpret it to mean is HUGE!

So my One Little Word for this year is going to be...

Positive

Pinned Image

I am going to apply it many different areas of my life. I'm glad that this will be a weekly link up for It's a Long Story, because I will need a weekly reminder to keep at it.

I want to be Positive about my relationship with Christ. Knowing that He is in control, all things happen for a reason.. His reason and that I am suppose to keep following Him and positive things will happen.

I want to be Positive about my marriage. I have a wonderful husband. He love me and he love Christ, he works hard and is a good leader. What more can a girl ask for? I want to be positive even when I'm frustrated. I want to take frustrations to my God and not my friends.

I want to be Positive at work. SO many changes and being in change can be hard. I want to keep a positive attitude and communicate in a positive way.

I want to be Positive about my business. Not to let myself get discouraged when sales are slow, or frustrated when they are pouring in. Positive in the way I deal with my customers.

In general I just want to be a more positive person and that make that One Little Word feel HUGE!

What is your One Little Word? How are you going to improve yourself this year?
Join me over at It's Long Story for this exciting journey.

Perpetual Calander: Another Pinterest Project

I'm sure that no one is surprised to see another Pinterest project. I really do love that site and love all of the inspiration that I can get from others. Thank you to whoever it was that sent me that invite so many months ago.

I have a box that is full of old day timers, I don't really know why I choose to save them. It feels like some day I might want to look back and see what I was doing on March 25th 2007 (something fun...this is hubs birthday). Either way I can't bring myself to get rid of them. I spot this awesome project and its a must! Just think of all of the years I can get in that tiny cute box! Here is the original pin on Pinterest. The project comes from Design Sponge and directions can be found here.

The hard part come with finding that adorable tiny fruit basket! Its next to impossible! I found them on Etsy in this shop, I paid $6 for a dozen of them and then $5 shipping. Which makes them less than a dollar, if I can find some other projects to use the remaining baskets. No worries I have a few ideas already pinned.

The original post used vintage post cards as her month dividers. I thought I would take my own spin on it and bought a few sheets of vintage themed card stock at Hobby Lobby, gotta love those 6 pages for $1 sales. I also purchased a packet of black craft paper recipe cards. I figured I have a favorite that is seasonal and would include it. Packet of  18 cards was $2.99 plus that awesome 40% off coupon.

After I cut all 180 of my index cards I realized that the baskets I have are larger than the one featured. If you purchase your baskets from this same shop I think I would go with the 5x7 index cards rather than the 4x6 used here.

Not a fan of the recycled paper basket look? Don't worry Anthropology has amazing ceramic fruit baskets in 5 beautiful color and in two sizes available here.

Prayer Journal... Memories and a Pinterest Project

A decade ago, I remember spending an evening every week with the jr high and high school girl from my church youth group talking about prayer requests before studying The Word. I remember a great project that our fearless leader, Shannon Beard started with us. Shower Power, we would write down everyone's prayer requests in colorful markets on a sheet of paper. Then slip the paper into a gallon ziplock, add a suction cup with a hook and tadow! Prayer time in the shower! I guess this is my grown up version of my shower power. Thanks Shannon for this fun memory:)

I've had this project on my Pinterest Craft Board for a while now, but tonight finally decided that it was a top priority project. I don't have a problem spending time in prayer, but my Type A personality tells me that I would never forget prayer requests if I was organized. Sad to think that I even want to organize my prayer time.

Here is the original pin about the prayer journal by Under the Sycamore. She made her journal for her kiddos, but some time the simple things are what works best.

Here are a few pics of mine.

A peek inside, each page has the name of the individual on their page and then sticky notes that can be edited or replaced as frequently as needed.

How do you keep up with prayer requests, prayer journal, shower power?

5 things i'm loving right now

I was reading a great post over at Fancy Little Things my friend Aimee's page and thought why not. She got the idea from her new buddy over at Chesterrific I'm trying hard to do better at this blogging thing this year, so if nothing else I can take direction from others.  So here goes, 5 things i'm loving right now....

#1: Starbuck's Peppermint Coco- I know its only a matter of time before I have to say goodbye until next year when the red cups come back.

#2: Pinterest- Of Course! You are always in my browser, all day, every day. Helping me think of crafts, what to cook for dinner, the outfit I must have, and jokes to tell my hubby.

#3: Scentsy- I know it's been around forever, but I just bought my first one the other day and am loving the Silverbells scent. It's amazing and my entire house smells amazing!

#4: Sally Hansen Insta-dri Polish- It's the best polish I have ever used, I feel like I have to buy a new color everytime I walk in Target, someone save me! That flat brush means one swipe and that Insta-dry means I'm back to work in 3 minutes max. Love!

#5: My Tom's- I wear them pretty much everyday, don't know what I'd do without them. Might need more in lots of other colors:)

Now that you know mine, what are the 5 thing's you are loving right now?

January Photo A Day Challenge and a few other things...

It's January 2nd, which means Christmas is over the New Year has started. It's time for some goals, challenges and changes. I have a list... and what better way to stay accountable than to post it on a blog where people can read it and then check in on the progress.

So here they are...12 in 12!
1. Read at least 30 books (exact list is in the works)
2. Lose 10 lbs (this is an ongoing goal that I'm not very motivated to work on)
3. Continue to Pray and read the Bible daily.
4. Continue to stay away from Red Bull (going on 4 months)
5. Grow my business and reach 2000 facebook fans and 400 sales on Etsy.
6. Stay involved in our Missional Community & actively volunteer with them.
7. Exercise at least 5 days a week...and change it up sometimes.
8. Continue to faithfully tithe.
9. Purchase Living room furniture.
10. Cook dinner once a week.
11. Update business website to contain all items and keep it updated.
12. Get Family Pictures made, just me and hubs.

You may not think they are so bad, but let me tell you. I don't cook, I love caffeine, I dread working out and the living room really doesn't have any furniture in it.

I'm still working on the list of books, I have had some great suggestions from friends and family and am continuing to add them and will post when I get it composed under the 2012 Book list tab.

The one thing that I didn't add to the goals was school. I want to decide if I'm going to go back to school, but feel that the pressure of making myself choose this year might be the wrong kind of pressure.

On to the fun stuff....
I was reading on Facebook this morning and two awesome blogs that I love: Nest of Posies and JessicaNdesigns are committing to a Photo a Day Challenge for the Month of January. I figured I would join them and maybe this would jump start me to blog more regularly.

So here it is the January Photo A Day Challenge using Instagram. Make sure and check back at the end of each week to see an update and at the month to see all of the pics together and join JessicaNdesigns linky party!
