Friday Letters

Dear Rain,
We need you, so I won't say go away. But could you try and keep it down. I'm trying to sleep.

Dear Businesses,
If you do a giveaway on a blog, make sure to contact your winner. I was so excited about winning your amazing prize, but you never emailed me back and I don't want to nag:(

Dear Weekend,
You went by too fast, I'm glad you're back.

Dear Nice Girl @ The Bookstore,
I'm not judging, you sounded really nice and I know this is Austin. That being said ankle books, rainbow knee high sock and a skirt so short your booty is almost showing isn't the best "are you hiring" outfit. Especially in the used bookstore that the sweet retired lady runs where she plays harp music all day. Just sayin'.

Dear Monday,
Thanks for going so smooth. No one yelled or cursed at me on the phone...all day!

Dear Birchbox,
Thank you for finally removing me from the wait list.

Dear Erin Condren,
Thank you! Thank you! I am so happy that my planner came in and it is amazing.

thankful thursday

The week I have to admit my post might seem a little...off. I have some odd things that I'm thankful for this week.

#1 Stress
Ok, I know this sounds weird. My neck has hurt for the past two days. Can't turn it all the way to the right. It is a constant remind that my body is weak and temporary. Stress makes me turn to the people I care the most about for support. My best friend, my husband, my family. So as much as I hate to admit it, Stress can be a good thing. I always thought I would like a life that was stress free, but the reality of it is I think I need it to survive. Just a little of it.

#2 Home Slice Pizza
Pinned ImageI told you these were going to be odd. Since moving to ATX this has been a regular place on Hubs and my menu. We usually eat here once a week. We enjoy the atmosphere and have fun watching them toss the dough. We have great conversation and yummy food, and we usually get to laugh a little while we rock out to 80's and 90's music. So thankful for that special time.

#3 Blog Readers
I know that several weeks ago {Jan 26th post} I was excited and thankful to have 23 people that were not only following me but encouraging me to keep writing. Not sure that you knew that, but you do. Today I can say that I have 178 blog followers. Where did you all come from?! Thank you for your continued support and encouragement.

I usually have so much to say. I think this week has been busy and I have had a hard time wrapping my brain around all of it. I have missed some of the quality time that Hubs and I usually have. He is been busy with school and work, and we had last minute company late in the week.

Hubs is amazing, I can't say enough sweet things about him. Then there are the days he makes me want to pull my hair out, but this week was full of the other days. The sweet days.

After our company left on Friday morning, Hubs asked me to dinner later that night. It's nice to be asked, rather than told. I got to pick the place and I chose a tasty Argentinian restaurant that has my favorite desert. Not only was the food amazing, the company couldn't have been better. We had an entire meal with meaningful conversation. Some about day to day life, some more personal and serious. This really made the rest of my weekend just amazing.
I've been getting sweet text messages and lots of time the past few days even though Hubs is at work. I think he just knows when I need time.

So something I have really been working on, interrupting. I do it to everyone, and if you are my in real life friend I apologize. I really am trying to improve this area. Hubs told me today that he has noticed that I have been doing better with it and he appreciates it. Wow! Way to make me feel good. Don't think you could have rained on my parade after that.

Struggling to be positive...In laws. My father in law is coming to visit over Spring Break and while I love this man very much. I always have some angst when I know a visit it coming. Please pray for me in the coming weeks while I struggle with this. I WANT to be Positive in every aspect.

So I tried to find a verse that I could focus on this week and believe it or not my index doesn't have the word positive in it. So I'm going with joyful. I think that they are interchangeable in the circumstances. I want to be Joyful!

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer - Romans 12:12

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,   gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law - Galatians 5:22

My Tuesday 10: A Day Off

A list of sorts, of 10 things. Any 10 things, totally random.
Since I am sitting at my desk...at work, sadly not at home, I think today's list will be the 10 things I would do if I had today off of work.

I think I need this awesome printable to keep it all together...

Isn't it awesome! Check out Life's a Journal on Etsy to purchase a notepad of them or their website for the free awesome printable!

So with out further a do, here it is...

1. Hit the gym for the Body Combat class {these are never at convenient times for the working women}

2. Cook a tasty meal for Hubs

3. NAP

4. Read an entire paperback book

5. Finish re-organizing the bathroom and write my post about it

6. Spend hours on Pinterest looking for crafts to add to my list

7. Spend time with Hubs before he has to go to work

8. Drop off the clothes in the back of my car at Goodwill

9. Bake something I found a recipe for on Pinterest, just because

10. Spend an hour each at Target and Hobby Lobby with no purpose other than they are my happy place

Oh, It's Tuesday?

It's Tuesday, I have tons to say/write, but now of it seems like Tuesday stuff. I know that sounds weird, but I have a system. It's a good system and it works for me. Occasionally I can handle changing it up, but today isn't that day. I have a fun St Patty's Day craft to share with you, but it was inspired by a friends sneak peak and since she hasn't posted her's I don't feel right posting mine first.

So I decided I need your help. There are now over 150 of you out there, followers that is, and I need some opinions. It's easy, now stress, I promise this isn't gonna be like taking that 7th grade algebra test.

I have 5 women and 1 man that work with me. I am the "unit nurse" which pretty much means, if you are thinking, "oh crap" your next thought is where's Lani. Nice, right? I have so much fun making crafts and if there was such thing as an adoptive room mom I would so be there. I need a group of people to do small things for, I dwell on this... I have entire Pinterest board for this {you can see it HERE}.

So St Patty's is coming and I just can't decide which cutsie treat to make for them.

Manic Monday: Closet Redo

Here is a blip from my list from last two weeks ago...

#1 Organize/clean out my closet and dresser {this is huge}

I did it! I did it! I spent Sunday morning cleaning out the my closet and dresser. First step was to purge, then the organizing can begin.

So proud of myself! Got rid of costume jewelry, shoes and lots of clothes!

I picked up a great hanging shoe organizer from The Container Store {$9.99} and four bundles of white hangers from Wal-Mart {$1.17 each}. Hubs asked that I try and lean towards 1 or 2 colors of hangers in the future, so I thought I would surprise him and get a fresh look going...{what you don't dig my totally college dorm look of 10 different colors of hangers!?}

As usual I headed over to Pinterest to look for fab organizational ideas, You can check out my board {HERE}. I didn't want to spend a lot of the closet re-do since I share the master walk-in with hubs and would feel the need to re-do his side as well. Don't get me wrong, he is super tidy and organized, but I would want both sides to match perfectly which would have meant buying twice as much. Amazing that I can be so {messy?} and yet so OCD at times.

This was my inspiration, my fav. You should head over to Freckles Chick and check out her redo. It is really awesome.

I can't believe I'm going to show you the before pictures of what this closet looked like. I'm a little embarrassed myself.

Before...

Yep, definitely embarrassed. It's about to get so much better though! All of those clothes folded in piles on the shelf are scrubs and jeans I just don't have enough room in the dresser for them.

So the box in back has my jewelry box in it, 2 boot boxes and the 2 boxes in front are full of more shoes {I have a lot of shoes}.

I moved the boot boxes up top to the empty shelf and busted out that new shoe hangie thingy from The Container Store. Lined up a few more pairs of boots in the fancy built in shoe thingy along the base board {I put down a scrap of white fabric first to avoid harming the paint}. The rest are now in the donate bags.

Rehung all of the keeper clothes on the fancy new white hangers and even put them in small groups: slacks, skirts, short/long sleeve shirts and sweaters. Yay!

Dresser also got a purge and contributed to those bags. Now a lot of the non-hanging clothes will fit into the drawers.

After...

So I am really happy with my closet re-do! I wonder how long I can keep it so pretty. Wish me luck!
