Neglected....just for a bit

I know that I haven't posted all week and maybe you are feeling neglected, I know the blog is. If it makes you feel better, my house and car are dirty, laundry is piling up {again} and I haven't taken a photo a day pic in over a week. Its all good though. I have been spending a lot of time making hair knoties from the big sale last week and feel like I might be making  a dent in the 600+ orders that came in in just under 3 days!!

Next week is full of great guest posts! You are going to L.O.V.E. it! so don't loose faith in me. Keep coming back to see whats new. I promise to have this looking better by Tuesday;) Pin It

ILW-A Lesson Learned & A Little ATX

Sunset on Mt Bonnell
I learned a valuable lesson this week from Hubs. I already knew the answer, but seeing the journey was amazing and moving. Hubs works a rotating shift each week involving both day shift, late day shift and night shift. The night shift is always hard { I remember my night shift days as glorious, but that was 7 years ago, and now I struggle to make it to midnight}. Hubs felt like the night shift did him in, hard to rest {he has a job where he can try and catch some zzz's} bad next day, poor decisions regarding food, exercise and activities from being tired.
About 2 weeks ago he came to me and told me that he was going to change things up. He wanted to put a positive spin on the night shift. As I am listening the little voice in my head is screaming, "yes!" I was so happy for him.

He decided that he would spend the night shift studying, reading his Bible, and praying while waiting for calls to come in. The next morning he would head straight home from work to rest and recoup from the night before.

So I said a few prayers for him in the week before and then the big day came....THE NIGHT SHIFT! While he was on his way to work that night I prayed for him. I asked God to give him peace in this struggle, to work out the way he desired {after all it was reading scripture and praying}, to come home safe and rest good, to feel pleased with the decisions he made the next day. My mom called and I told her what his plan was and she said she would be praying for him too. The next morning on my way into work I got the call. The call that was happy, the call that told me he had a wonderful night and actually did fall asleep for an hour! He was pleased, Because God it good, all the time!
So Hubs spin on being more POSITIVE worked and since that was my 1LW this year i thought I should share it with you.

We were able to go out that yesterday evening and run around Austin. We checked out a few of the places that the tourist love and since we have lived here for 2 years already we figured it was time.

Hubs checking out the lake
After we went to Mt. Bonnell for a beautiful sunset we head back into the heart of Austin and pulled out our lawn chairs for a evening of watching the bats fly out from under the Congress St bridge. We even happened upon some of Hub's co-workers as we picked our spot on the grass.

Manic Monday:May Birchbox Brag

What is Birchbox? Well some of you might still be asking this question. There are several ways to subscribe, monthly, 3 or 6 month memberships or yearly. Each month is just $10. After you fill in your simple beauty profile you will receive 1 box each month with 4-6 awesome beauty samples and coupons. Wanna Join? Yes!!! Click {HERE}

My first month was a special month and I received the Teen Vogue Box, it rocked! This month was another special month with a Gossip Girl Box. I'm not a fan of this show so I didn't really know what to expect. After reading a few other reviews I found that most were expecting high end cosmetics

I received the Chic Sunday Brunch Box based off of my beauty profile.

Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm SPF 25+
I LOVED this product! I have already ordered the full size item. It was a great moisturizer, no break outs like with normal foundation and power, great tint and doesn't give me the usually caked make up feel.

So this wasn't a hit for most. I like it okay, better for a fall evening color. Will use it later in the year, I think the Essie Gold that I got in the Teen Vogue box was more summer appropriate, but I love all of the polishes.

Ojon volume advance™ Volumizing Shampoo
Smelled good, clean organic smell. Nothing amazing that would make me change from my regular shampoo to this more expensive version.

Algenist Complete Eye Renewal Balm

Haven't used this yet, not sure if I will. Might pass it on to mom or sister in-laws.

The note card extra was okay I would have preferred a makeup or beauty item, but I will still put it to good use:)

Overall I was pleased with my box and will look forward to next I don't see cancellation in my future any time soon.

Senior Hottie?!?

So here it is...That post you have been seeing all over the blog world were we get to embarrass ourselves by showing pictures from our Senior Year of High School.  I know, I know, crazy right!

Well here it is a few snap shots of the Senior Year, Class of 2000!

Here is the official Senior Pic...and just a heads up...no judging! Yes I have that same hair cut roughly 12 years later and wore it for most of high school. {I let it grow out and have since cut it all off and gone back to a slightly longer version of this cut}

Are you seeing a trend? I grew up in West Texas. I was in college before I dated a guy that didn't wear a cowboy hat.

DIY Jewelry Organizer

A few weeks ago I saw the most adorable craft on Tatertots & Jello a few weeks back. I knew I had to make one and still I was searching for a gift for the swap I was currently in I knew this would be PERFECT!

I saw a few others that told me this was going to be adorable!!!
Handmade by Jen ROCKED it with her version {HERE}

I knew I had better get to work making this Fab project! I picked up my bamboo cutlery tray at Walmart for $7.99. What a deal!!

I sprayed painted it with my handy can of chalkboard spray paint, you'll know why chalkboard and not just regular spray paint later...

Let it dry completely. I left it to sit overnight.

Now comes the fun part...GLITTA! I purchased a simple liquid Epoxy from the craft store. I only mixed up as much as  I would need and poured it into the bottom section of the tray. Next poor in the glitta color of your choice and gentle tip tray until area is covered. T&J used Mod Podge on this section, but I wanted my glitta to be encased so I wouldn't have to worry about it coming off in the shipping process.

I dug around in my fabric scraps and found the perfect piece of zebra print cotton. Applied a coat of Fabric Mod Podge to the tray laid the fabric in and then applied another coat over the top.

Using small nails I placed on them through out the tray for hanging necklaces and bracelets on. I didn't want just plan nails so I jazzed it up with covered buttons. {can you tell that the button on the first compartment wouldn't cooperate}

So I gave it the ax and wrote the recipients name in using a chalkboard pen.

Super cute and super sparkly!
