I love the way it makes me feel during and afterwards.
I hate the thought of getting started.
I can think about running all day and then when it comes time, talk myself out of it in a heartbeat...too cold...too hot...don't want to drive to gym...don't like running on asphalt. See I just came up 4 excuses in seconds!
Note this are not my legs, but I wish they were:)
What I find motivates me is organized running. I like participating in 5K runs locally. In a different life {pre knee surgery} I liked distance running and had completed 5 half marathons and a lot of 5k/10k runs.
I haven't done a half marathon since 2007..I think oh and 15 lbs ago. I'm not sure I will push my self to get back to my previous distance, or just have fun with it.
Fun! Now that's what I'm talking about. Thanksgiving day we were closed at the office and Hubs had to work. Since I had to work the next day it didn't work for me to go to my parents. I decided I would do the Famous Thundercloud Subs Turkey Trot here in ATX. The race benefits a local charitable organization so its a great way to give back too.
When I arrived I see this huge banner hanging above the start, Thundercloud Subs Turkey Trot 5 MILE Race. Yep, you read that right 5 miles, not 5 K. only the difference of about 2 miles. I wasn't read for this, oh and did I mention that more than half of the course is up hill!
Needless to say, I did it. 1 Song at a time and felt great when it was over.
Lots of families had fun dressing up and I laughed every time a turkey ran next to me.
That was a lot of background to get to my actually topic of interest. This past weekend I ran The Color Run here in ATX.
Everyone starts in White t-shirts and ends in...well colorful t-shirts. Sounds really fun right? It was...but there were a few, complications. It stormed the night before here in ATX, now don't get me wrong, we are in a serious drought and no one here complains when it rains. We just adjust. I'm going to let the pictures do the talking...
I had a blast, there was so much mud you couldn't actually run, but more tried to keep your shoes on as you hiked up mud hills. I wish I'd had a running buddy for this one, maybe next time. Sunglasses were a must, got tons of "color" on them and glad it wasn't in my eyes instead.
Weight Challenge Update:
I weighted in yesterday at 138.6 which is 1 lb lost this week and a total of 3.6 lbs so far! So far I'm in the lead in the Challenge at work!!
Okay, I LOVE that you just posted about a color run because my friend wants us to do the one in Chicago! What did you think of it!?
