Love Feast Table and Gathered Thoughts

I'm happy and excited to be a hostess for the Gathered Thoughts Link-up @ LoveFeast Table. Gathered thoughts is a fun and creative product, made to spur dinner table conversations, inspire our writing or just make us think out side the box. Packed full of quotes on every topic it would be a nice addition to any home. I had a great time handing out the cards to 9 of my best bloggy friends. I can't wait to see what inspiration each of them has taken from their prompt.

The prompt that I chose for the link up was...
"Let nothing dim the light that shines from within." ~ Maya Angelou

As soon as I read it my thoughts went to scriptures and of course the ever favorite, children's worship song, "This little light of mine." I'm not sure what the context of this quote is, I don't know that it's author is a believe. Maybe it was said with spiritual meaning, I interpreted it this way.

Christ says in Luke 11:33, "No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light."

Was He speaking of a literal candle? Was He speaking of the light that shines from within each of us, the Holy Spirit?

Christ also states in Matthew 5:14-15, "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house."

These scriptures make me wonder if my light is shining, or have I hidden it away. My prayer is that all will see it and question where is comes from so that I can be vessle for Christ and share the good news of His love and ulitimate sacrific.

Matthew 5:16, "Let your light shine before men, that they may see your fine works and give glory to your Father who is in the heaven."
