Manic Monday: Closet Redo

Here is a blip from my list from last two weeks ago...

#1 Organize/clean out my closet and dresser {this is huge}

I did it! I did it! I spent Sunday morning cleaning out the my closet and dresser. First step was to purge, then the organizing can begin.

So proud of myself! Got rid of costume jewelry, shoes and lots of clothes!

I picked up a great hanging shoe organizer from The Container Store {$9.99} and four bundles of white hangers from Wal-Mart {$1.17 each}. Hubs asked that I try and lean towards 1 or 2 colors of hangers in the future, so I thought I would surprise him and get a fresh look going...{what you don't dig my totally college dorm look of 10 different colors of hangers!?}

As usual I headed over to Pinterest to look for fab organizational ideas, You can check out my board {HERE}. I didn't want to spend a lot of the closet re-do since I share the master walk-in with hubs and would feel the need to re-do his side as well. Don't get me wrong, he is super tidy and organized, but I would want both sides to match perfectly which would have meant buying twice as much. Amazing that I can be so {messy?} and yet so OCD at times.

This was my inspiration, my fav. You should head over to Freckles Chick and check out her redo. It is really awesome.

I can't believe I'm going to show you the before pictures of what this closet looked like. I'm a little embarrassed myself.

Before...

Yep, definitely embarrassed. It's about to get so much better though! All of those clothes folded in piles on the shelf are scrubs and jeans I just don't have enough room in the dresser for them.

So the box in back has my jewelry box in it, 2 boot boxes and the 2 boxes in front are full of more shoes {I have a lot of shoes}.

I moved the boot boxes up top to the empty shelf and busted out that new shoe hangie thingy from The Container Store. Lined up a few more pairs of boots in the fancy built in shoe thingy along the base board {I put down a scrap of white fabric first to avoid harming the paint}. The rest are now in the donate bags.

Rehung all of the keeper clothes on the fancy new white hangers and even put them in small groups: slacks, skirts, short/long sleeve shirts and sweaters. Yay!

Dresser also got a purge and contributed to those bags. Now a lot of the non-hanging clothes will fit into the drawers.

After...

So I am really happy with my closet re-do! I wonder how long I can keep it so pretty. Wish me luck!

  5. I can assure you, your before is much than my current! The redo looks great, though. I want to see this costume jewelry you're getting rid of, though. I love to craft with costume jewelry. If only I'd known you were getting rid of it....
    Anyways, thanks for linking up to I Made It! Monday. Can't wait to see what you share this week.
