Prayer Journal... Memories and a Pinterest Project

A decade ago, I remember spending an evening every week with the jr high and high school girl from my church youth group talking about prayer requests before studying The Word. I remember a great project that our fearless leader, Shannon Beard started with us. Shower Power, we would write down everyone's prayer requests in colorful markets on a sheet of paper. Then slip the paper into a gallon ziplock, add a suction cup with a hook and tadow! Prayer time in the shower! I guess this is my grown up version of my shower power. Thanks Shannon for this fun memory:)

I've had this project on my Pinterest Craft Board for a while now, but tonight finally decided that it was a top priority project. I don't have a problem spending time in prayer, but my Type A personality tells me that I would never forget prayer requests if I was organized. Sad to think that I even want to organize my prayer time.

Here is the original pin about the prayer journal by Under the Sycamore. She made her journal for her kiddos, but some time the simple things are what works best.

Here are a few pics of mine.

A peek inside, each page has the name of the individual on their page and then sticky notes that can be edited or replaced as frequently as needed.

How do you keep up with prayer requests, prayer journal, shower power?

  7. This is such a sweet idea. My husband and I just created a little prayer jar (idea from my mom & sis). We cut up a bunch of papers and listed people/things to pray for. When we pull one out & pray for it, it goes to the back of the jar. Once we pray for them all, we'll move them all back up to the front.
